Coverage Ink’s Rocket Fuel is a 10-week course is designed to take a project from concept to completed feature first draft and give you the foundational tools to tackle revisions and chart your path forward as a writer. Set up to mimic the professional writer’s timeline, this is the opportunity to up your game and hit the ground running in 2024.

Classes will take place via Zoom every Tuesday from 7-10PM Pacific Time. The class runs ten weeks in total; there will be two weeks off, TBD.

Each session will include:

• LECTURES
  Concept, Story, Character, Structure, Dialogue, Theme, and all the elements of Craft.  Each week we’ll break down one area of the screenwriting process and offer a roadmap to a successful first draft as you take your new ideas from Concept to Outline to Pages.  We’ll dive into the concept of hook and writing for particular audiences.  We’ll go into depth on story and structural beats and discuss ways to master the challenges of writing sparkling dialogue and characters that resonate.  Lectures are designed to give you the core building blocks of the craft that can be used again and again throughout your screenwriting career.
• WORKSHOPS
  Giving and receiving and receiving notes on each student’s script in a helpful and encouraging environment.
• GUEST LECTURERS
  Special guests will join the group for special sessions to discuss specific genres, the state of the industry, and next steps, and will include CI founder Jim Cirile, members of the CI team, and industry pros. Topics will include the ins and outs of representation, what’s hot in the industry right now, and the pros and cons of pursuing the indie or festival route.

There will be writing, oh yes! Make sure you allow time for HOMEWORK, aka “writing.” Writers are responsible for their own assignments as well as reviewing their fellow students’ work in advance of the week’s class to make the most of our group discussions.

This inaugural session of Rocket Fuel is open to writers at any stage in their careers; feature spec ideas only.

All writers that complete the Rocket Fuel program will receive one CI standard analysis ($155 value) from CI’s rock star team of readers.

 

INSTRUCTOR

Anna Siri is an award-winning, repped screenwriter, producer, script doctor, and ghostwriter whose accolades include Best Short Film at the Dark Carnival Film Festival for Caution Sign and the UCLA Professional Program Writer’s Award for The News Girl. Credits include the short Caution Sign, the feature horror Meadowoods, the graphic novel Warhawks, and the upcoming story anthology Girl in Trouble. She has polished/rewritten/ghostwritten two produced feature films and over a dozen screenplays for Coverage Ink clients (uncredited). She has over two decades of experience as a reader, consultant, and contest judge for, among others, Coverage Ink (where she is one of five CI Pro story analysts,) the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, Senator Entertainment, New Regency, the Universal Studios Writers Program, the PAGE Awards, the Slamdance Film Festival, Final Draft’s Big Break Competition, and the American Zoetrope Competition. In addition to reading and development of feature and pilot projects, she currently serves as General Manager for Coverage Ink. Recently, she was also production coordinator and director’s assistant on the animated horror feature To Your Last Death. She has a degree in Radio/TV/Film from Northwestern University as well as a certificate from the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting.
